Green Built Alliance has issued two Requests for Proposals in February to invite solar installers and HVAC contractors to bid on upcoming projects that reduce the energy burden of vulnerable residents in Buncombe County.
Through these two projects that decrease energy consumption and increase clean-energy production, Green Built Alliance aims to support the City of Asheville and Buncombe County in achieving their community goals for affordable housing, carbon-emission reductions, and renewable energy.
The first Request for Proposals has been issued for solar installers interested in supporting the expansion of the nonprofit’s Neighbor to Neighbor Solar efforts to provide no-cost solar-energy systems to low-income homes in Buncombe County. Under the umbrella of Green Built Alliance’s Blue Horizons Project program, the Neighbor to Neighbor Solar initiative aims to make the economic and environmental benefits of residential solar accessible to communities who have often been left out of the clean-energy movement.
Prospective solar-energy design and installation companies have until 5 p.m. March 15, 2022, to submit a bid. The Request for Proposals documents and information can be found HERE. A second Request for Proposals has been issued for HVAC contractors interested in supporting the expansion of the nonprofit’s low-income heating repair and replacement initiative. Completed in collaboration with Green Built Alliance’s Energy Savers Network program, this effort aims to repair or replace the heat pumps of income-qualified Buncombe County houses at no cost to the homeowners.
Prospective HVAC contractors have until 5 p.m. March 11, 2022, to submit a bid. The Request for Proposals documents and information can be found HERE.
